Best Practices

  • Widespread promotion of low technology low cost structures viz. sandbag structures, gabion, recharge well, 5% water harvesting model;
  • Pioneering work in introduction of vermicompost, biodynamic agriculture, soil testing, application of micronutrients, water use efficiency etc;
  • Frontrunner for promotion of jetropha for wasteland reclamation and renewable green energy source;
  • Promoted energy and labour saving equipments like biogas, efficient cookstoves, solar cooker, solar light, water lifting devices, agriculture implements etc.;
  • Empowerment and integration of youths to causes like environment, NRM, watershed 
  • Organization and collective action of community over poverty through Common Interest Groups (CIGs), Village Development Committee (VDCs), promoted first all women VDC of MP;
  • Effective partnership of women in governance through SHGs, PTAs, VWSCs, VDCs, Gram Sabha and Paanchayats.
  • First time introduced access audits of schools with disability and gender at centre;
  • Empowered women groups taking control over PDS outlet, curb on liquor trading, enforcing compulsory girl education, defering child marriage till 16 years etc.;
  • Successfully dealt with problem of education of migrant labourers;
  • Many of our approaches in the field of strengthening of mainstream primary education adopted by state government in its ongoing programmes;
  • First time  in rural areas initiatives for certification and linkages for assistive support to CWDs/PWDs;
  • For first time implemented computer aided literacy programme for rural tribal women;
  • Pioneering work in promoting village Sanitation through garbage free village drive, soak pits, low cost toilets, grey water reuse technique;
  • Successfully developed 02 No Women SHG Federations in Tribal domainated area with participation of 429 Women SHgs and 6000+ women
  • Income Generation activities by 4000+ Women SHG members to enhance their Socio Economic Status
  • Skill Enhancement of 5000+ Farmers on Agriculture Techniques to Enhance Productivity
  • Successful Demonstration of Best practices of Agriculture & Allied sector in More than 300 villages
  • 27 Gram Panchayats got Nirmal Gram Puraskar from Hon President of India 

Major Issues

  • Poor understanding of community over Natural Resources and their Management practices;
  • Factionalism and polarisation of community over issues other then development;
  • Lack of spaces and opportunities for women to play their role in domestic, community and regional developmental issues;
  • Poor agriculture extension services, improper land use, poor post harvest services etc.;
  • Lack of skills and access to capital and markets for undertaking self employment by rural poors;
  • Certain community groups are marginalized and excluded in mainstream Development (tribe, women, PWD); 
  • Extremely poor quality of elementary education especially at rural areas;
  • Lack of relevance of education to needs and aspirations of the community and region
  • Disconnect among scientist, technologist, researcher and common man resulting in inappropriate, inadequate application of S&T to better day to day life; 
  • Lack of community motivation and initiative for adopting simple safe behaviour for healthy living

Where We Work

Actions and services of BYPASS has so far reached to 21 districts of 4 states (Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan) through multisectoral field implementation projects. Besides organization extending from time to time technical services to several governmental/voluntary organizations on various rural development themes at Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujrat  and Maharashtra. 

Our Network

Right now BYPASS is extending services to partner community through network of field offices situated at various project areas, besides this its head office at Bhopal is functioning for partnership building, overall management, human resource development, consultancy services, monitoring and learning. Our Resources

To address our avowed mission two most important resources we need are: finance and manpower. While we get financial resources in the form of project/programme specific grants and donations alongwith generating fee based revenue for rendering our expertise/technical services.   We see human as our most important asset and we work continually to enrich it to tackle present and emerging challenges to community development. Over the years BYPASS has grown from strength to strength. The present cadre strength of 12 professionals and 12 Para professionals drawn from diverse disciplines like: Watershed dev., Agriculture & Allied, Education, Environment science, Forest management, Engineering, Social work, Rural management and Accounts.
